Timbaland And Magoo
Present
Blackground/Shock
Along with Dr. Dre, Outkast, The Neptunes, and more recently Lil Jon, Timbaland is one of the most sought after hip-hop and r'n'b producers of recent times. His uniquely simplified broken beats and melodies have been responsible for a multitude of platinum hits, as well as sparking stellar careers for many artists including Aaliyah, Ginuwine, Missy Elliot, Bubba Sparxxx, and his latest protege, Magoo.
'Present' brings together some of the tracks that have been exposed
to Timbaland's Midas touch from the past eight years, some of which
have been taken from his previous four studio albums: 'Welcome To
Our World,' 'Tim's Bio,' 'Indecent Proposal' and 'Under Construction
Part II.' And as expected it includes collaborations with a bevy of
featured artists, not only those whose careers were kickstarted by
Timbaland, but also heavyweights who have utilised the value of Timbaland's
production, including Twista, Jay-Z, Wyclef Jean and Fatman Scoop.
This album includes the usual upbeat club tracks like Cop That
Sh*t, Shenanigans (a definite highlight) and Drop
alongside more down-tempo r'n'b tracks like Man Undercover,
Joy and John Blaze with the poignant Hold On,
Timbaland's ode to the late r'n'b songstress Aaliyah, creating a certain
balance within this collection. Fans will also love the additional
DVD featuring videos of Timbaland's hits, as well as photos from the
Cop That Sh*t video shoot, lyrics and discography.
Unlike many of the hip-hop producers around, Timbaland has a definite sense of fun and quirkiness in his productions and this album is a good showcase of his work to date, but you can't help but think that there is more to this genius than meets the eye.
