Heavyweight Breaks Volume 3 mixed by Skool Of Thought
Supercharged/Inertia

Skool Of Thought brings us the third Heavyweight Breaks mix and it's easily the best in the series. Kicking off with KFC from new signing Splitloop, the mix defines just what is meant by heavyweight breaks, since it's loaded with the biggest tunes in the scene.

The music is relentlessly groovy, and the mixing is sublime. Every tune is a standout, and its order is perfect. From Friendly's Bumb 'n' Grind to the Plump DJs remix of the incredibly popular Push Up, it's a CD you'll put on and want to move to for the entire 72 minutes. While it's definitely been made for the dancefloor it has enough depth to be appreciated in the car or even in the office, and never gets boring like so many DJ mixes do, being expertly manipulated through Mr Thought's cunning skills.

As the CD progresses the mood moves from funky to fast, but never loses it's sense of fun. The mix ends in an orgy of wicked beats by the likes of Quest and Mutiny remixing the king of breaks Krafty Kuts, plus Skool of Thought's own opus The Devil and a remix of the venerable Freestylers by new darlings of the scene, Breakfasters.

Basically, if you like nu-school breaks, you need to buy this mix. It's not a sound that you'll hear out in too many clubs in Adelaide, but listening to this CD will give you a real appreciation of what a club set would be like in the UK, sans the thousands of sweaty Poms.
