Metal News.
Local metal band Raven Black Night will be putting on a show at The Squatter's Arms with One Step Beyond and a couple of other, as-yet-unconfirmed, bands on Fri 13 May.
The following night (Sat 14 May), fellow locals Tidal will be
playing a show with WA band Karnivool, who have just put out
a new release entitled 'Themata', at new venue Earth (the old
Downtown on Hindley St). Also on the bill will be Impartial
and Lotosoma.
On the same night, death metal band Sarsekim launch their new 2-track EP, 'Paroxysm', at the Enigma Bar with supports Imminent Psychosis, Slaughter Thou (who will be launching their own new CD 'The Anzac Hammer' on the night as well), and Blood Mason.
US metal act Hate Eternal (a group founded by ex-Morbid Angel
member Erik Rutan), will be touring Australia in June, performing
here on Sat 4 Jun at Le Rox/Bridgeway Hotel with Tasmanian supports
Psycroptic.
If extreme metal with a theatrical edge does something for you, you will not want to miss the next performance of local band Darklord. If this group's previous shows are anything to go by, expect lots of corpse paint, spikes, fog and blasting hellish fury when the band play at Jive on Fri 10 Jun with Raven Black Night and Hatred Slave.
Melbourne metal band Contrive have just finished mixing their
debut album, 'The Meaning Unseen', with Swedish producer Fredrik
Nordstrom, who has also worked with such metal acts as Dimmu
Borgir, Opeth, Arch Enemy, and The Haunted. Contrive, who are
currently unsigned, have played with such noted metal acts as
Machine Head, Sepultura and Soilwork, to name but a few, and
are the first Australian act to have had an album mixed at Nordstrom's
Studio Fredman. They plan to release 'The Meaning Unseen' independently
here in June or July, and are looking to distribute the album
overseas as well. 'The Meaning Unseen' comprises eleven tracks,
among them a cover of the Armoured Angel song Communion, as
well as a Japanese Taiko drumming track entitled Todoroki. Some
preview MP3 tracks from the album will be coming soon; check
out the band's website, www.contrive.com.au.
