Prize Frenzy™!

Friendship. Love. Affection. It's hard to get these sorts of things when you're a giant nightmarish demon-monster with talons like daggers and wings whose terrifying black span blocks out the very sky, although Frenzor™'s unfortunate habit of obliterating entire cities in a storm of fire and sulphur also doesn't help when it comes to making friends and impressing the ladieez. That's where Prize Frenzy™ comes in: it's bribery, blatant and unadorned, but it's made Frenzor™ one of the most gosh-darn popular hell-beasts currently working in South Australian media. And you can exploit his desperate attempt for popularity on Fri 6 May by calling 8231 0881 at 1pm and asking sweetly for your choice of the following:

1. Henry Rollins is at the Norwood Concert Hall on Sat 21 May and talks it up with Brett Buttfield in this issue. Furthermore, the fine folks at Feel have ensured that we have three double passes to the show up for grabs. How sweet is that?

2. Shihad are back, baby, with their 'Love Is The New Hate' album: Ann Marie Sosnowski asks Tom Larkin all about it in this issue, and Warners have kindly supplied us with three copies of the album for your listening pleasure.

3. The Bravery are the latest band to be declared the Future Of Rock'n'Roll, and Steve Williams gets all the goss in this issue. You, meanwhile, can grab a copy of their self-titled debut, thanks to UMG.

4. It's Free Comic Book Day on Sat 7 May, but if you want to get your hands on a haul of free comic books a day early you can grab one of the multi-comic packs that the fine people at Pulp Fiction Comics have slung our way.

5. Steve Jones has an illuminating chat with the sassy sorts of the Cat Empire in this issue, and we've got three copies of their 'Two Shoes' CD on offer, thanks to EMI.

6. The good people at Fosters Workshop PR know you enjoy the odd bit of controversy, and hence we have twenty in-season passes to 'Birth', starring Nicole Kidman. Check Steve Jones' review in this issue.

7. Mr Jones also speaks with David M Lewis of Dirtbird and The Bedridden about both bands and their upcoming Adelaide shows. To mark the 'Ridden's reformation tour, Lewis has kindly ponied up a copy of their 'The Ballad Of The Crown & Anchor' live disc and thrown in a copy of 'Dirtbird' to boot.

8. New-folk troubadour Willy Mason is taking the northern hemisphere by storm at the moment, and Wade Howland quizzes him all about it in this issue. To give a soundtrack to this meeting of minds, EMI have slung us copies of Mason's 'Where The Humans Eat'.

9. Narelle Walker enjoys a chat with the thoughtful and erudite Mick Harvey about the upcoming Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds tour and their rather brilliant new compilation 'B-Sides & Rarities', and EMI mark the occasion with three copies of said triple-CD box set to give away. They're so nice.

10. EMI have also slipped us some in-seasons double passes for 'The Edukators', which is screening through May at Nova. They just can't stop giving!

11. The Rogers Sisters make their Adelaide debut at the Grace Emily Wed 18 May: once you've read Narelle Walker's interview in this issue you'll want to grab one of the two Rogers Sisters packs that Popfrenzy have generously sent our way. Each one contains a copy of their tour-only single, a badge, stickers and a double pass to the show. Huzzah!

Online Only Frenzy™!

After the Frenztron5000™ paid them a visit, the fine folks at Ubisoft have come to the party in a big way with copies of their brand new Xbox game 'Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory' (which is reviewed, in glowing terms, by Julian Cram in this issue) We've got five copies up for grabs, with one lucky person scoring a pack that also includes Amon Tobin's haunting soundtrack (on CD and ultra-collectable vinyl), stickers and more. All you have to do is anser the following questions and email your answers to andrew@dbmagazine.com.au. First correct answer gets the big haul, next four get a copy of the game:

1. What's Amon Tobin's occasional (and cinematically dog-related) nom de plume?

2. What was the title of the first 'Splinter Cell' game?

3. Who's the central character of the 'Splinter Cell' games?

SPECIAL EXTRA BONUS ONLINE FRENZY™!

The always gentlemanly Simon Daly, manager of The Vasco Era, called slightly too late for deadline to offer a double pass to each of the Vasco Era's shows at Jive on Fri 13 and Sat 14 May - send andrew@dbmagazine.com.au a message politely explaining that you'd like to get along, and specifying the night of your choice, and a double could be yours!
