Australia's queen of dance, Bexta, joined actor Russel Crowe in touting the imminent launch of iTunes Australia. Crowe stated to John Laws last week that his band Thirty Odd Foot Of Grunts would be supplying tracks to Apple, and on her website Bexta confirmed that 'Conversations With Ones and Zeros' would be made available through the hotly awaited service. Whilst the website www.itunes.com.au was still down at the time of writing this column, Chris Howard of NSW apparently paid for No Such Thing by John Mayer using an Australian credit card, a transaction not possible only a few days ago. Apple's not talking, but soon Australians will finally able to legitimately download tunes for their iPods.

Heaven Nightclub and Chemistry present the Ministry Of Sound Hard NRG Tour featuring John Ferris and Scott Alert on Thurs 5 May, with Chemistry regulars CheekyB, Brendon, Kidd Phase, Steve Hart, Odyssey, Mr.S, Submission and Noddy.

Kasey Taylor is one of the most influential people in Australian dance music, a man who has devastated dance floors from Australia to Portugal to Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, America and Asia. Now he touches down in Adelaide at Garage on Fri 13 May with locals Mal Chia, Lachlan Pender, and Steve Culgan.

Adelaide's hard dance scene gets a ray of sunshine from Brisbane via Seventy 7 and Kuruption on Sat 7 May at 'Revolution', to be held at a secret venue minutes outside the city. This hard dance fest from Banging NRG, UK hardcore, Finnish Freeform and Dutch Gabber will be a treat for Adelaide ears. Call 0418 728 686 from Fri 6 May for venue details!

Global Panic vs Masif is another hard dance party, featuring UK's Technikal and Steve Hill alongside the cream of Adelaide's hard dance crop: ATB, Steve Hart, Dr Damage and Propaganda. This is all going down at Black Cat Nightclub on Sat 7 May.

Sun 15 May sees the return of a true ruler of the drum'n'bass scene: Roni Size, with microphone master MC Dynamite! Creating masterpieces since the early 90s on his Full Circle label, Size has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Basement Jaxx and U2. Size and Dynamite will be playing at The Shores Function Complex alongside DJ Blanco from Victoria and locals Djon & Skyver.

Don't be unlucky this Fri 13 May and miss the return of the Warp Brothers! Cross the path of the Black Cat for an evening of aural treats from DJs Pranksta, Propaganda, Kontrol, Josh, Evil Dave, Random T and JDMC.

Though only 20 years old, Guyver is one of the hottest properties within the UK Hard Trance scene having had six releases on Tidy Two.As one of the most respected and sought after production names in the Hard Dance, Black Cat offers another great show on Thur 12 May.

In the tradition of Ugly Duckling, Jurassic 5, The Pharcyde and People Under The Stairs comes Time Machine! Their highly acclaimed debut album 'Slow Your Roll' pays homage to classic hip-hop while simultaneously breaking new ground and they'll be playing Adelaide Fri 27 May at the MC Battle For Supremacy Australian Final at Fowlers Live.

And while we're on the subject, the aforementioned Out4Fame's MC Battle For Supremacy is Australia's biggest annual MC Battle and one of Australia's biggest ongoing hip-hop events. This year sees Adelaide hosting the Australian Final with the NSW's The Tongue, 2004 Australian winner Justice from Victoria, SA's own Moeshns and QLD's Pie.

Unfortunately, this column ends on a sad note. After Traffic's closure earlier this year comes news that Soda Room has also shut up shop. In a post on the Rave Adelaide site, owner Pratty says: "with a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat that I must advise that Soda Room has now closed its doors... It has been a fight to the end and one that I would never have fought so hard if it wasn't for you guys coming in week in and week out slinging shit at each other, boozing it up and being larrikins in general. I tip my hat to you all... let me thank all the staff, DJs, networkers and promoters for their support and quality of nights and shows [and] all you supporters who came right from the start and continued to come right to the end." You can still vote for Soda Room at the SA Dance Music Awards, which will be held at a now sold out show at the John Difede Reception Centre on Mon 23 May. Voting this year is again online, so head to 618records.com.au and make your voice heard!
