Metal News.
Victorian metal band Alarum will soon be paying another visit to Adelaide, playing a show at the Enigma Bar on Fri 22 April with local supports Imminent Psychosis, Omnium, and The Jonestown Syndicate.
Local band Diatribe have just finished recording
their debut full-length album and will be heading off to Melbourne
to master it at Crystal Studios. The band will also be playing
at the all-ages Anzac Metal Show at Le Rox/Bridgeway Hotel on
Sun 24 April; other bands on the bill for this are Skintilla,
A Red Dawn, Officer Down, 8th Degree and Intended Victim.
Regular metal event The War Room will be celebrating its first anniversary with a show at the Enigma Bar on Fri 29 April featuring local bands Truth Corroded, The New Mutiny and Double Dragon, as well as Victorian acts Shallow Grave and Synthesist.
Slaughter Thou have unfortunately had to
pull out of Raven Black Night's CD launch at Fowler's Live on
Fri 29 April; Deluge will be replacing them, whose show that
night may well be their last. The line-up for the evening remains
unchanged otherwise, with Vars, Juggermath and, of course, Raven
Black Night.
And just to get your metal appetite whetted, here's an early announcement for the first Australian tour of extreme American metal act Hate Eternal. Founded by ex-Morbid Angel member Erik Rutan, Hate Eternal have already put out two full-length releases, 'Conquering The Throne' and 'King Of All Kings'; are set to release a third, 'I, Monarch' (hmm, does anyone else detect a theme here?); and have recruited a new bass player in the form of Randy Piro, who replaces 'King Of All Kings' bassist Jared Anderson. Tour supports will be Tasmanians Psycroptic, who apparently have a new line-up as well, and will be touring the US in July. Their Adelaide visit will be Sat 4 June. For more info, check out the respective bands' websites, www.hateeternal.com and www.psycroptic.com, or the website of Hate Eternal's label, Earache Records: www.earache.com.
On the subject of Earache Records, this label
has just put out its 300th release in the form of the album,
'In the Midst of Bloodied Soil' by With Passion, a band hailing
from the Californian capital of Sacramento. Formed in 2002 from
members of Sacramento bands Athena In Hades, Severance, and
Impulse 120, With Passion play a combination of melodic death
metal in the tradition of such groups as Dissection and At The
Gates and technical metal/hardcore a la bands such as Cryptopsy
and Between The Buried And Me. 'In the Midst of Bloodied Soil'
is a re-release of a six-track EP the group put out in 2002
on another label, and contains two tracks not featured on that
earlier recording. An MP3 of one of the album tracks, Train
Wreck Orchestra, appears to be downloadable at the Earache
site, while 'In the Midst of Bloodied Soil' is out now.
