Metal News.
The Colonel Light Bar on Light Square (formerly Jimmy Rowes) will be hosting an 18+ metal show on Fri 8 April with bands In Daylight Tragedy, The Stanford Prison Experiment and Winter Falls.
Local metal maniacs Imminent Psychosis will
be playing their next show at the Enigma Bar on Fri 22 April
with Victorian visitors Alarum and locals Omnium and The Jonestown
Syndicate. The band hope to videotape the gig, and promise that
it will be an awesome night.
On the subject of happenings at the Enigma Bar, regular metal event The War Room celebrates its first anniversary there on Fri 29 April with a show featuring a suitably impressive line-up. Groups playing on the night will be Truth Corroded (who are planning to release their new album 'Our Enemy Is The Weapon' in June or July), Double Dragon and Melbourne bands Shallow Grave and Synthesis. Metal DJs will be playing a large array of tracks between sets (as well as taking requests), while there will also be CD giveaways going on. Doors open at 9 PM.
The launch of Raven Black Night's long-awaited
debut full-length, 'Choose The Dark' is also happening on Fri
29 April at Fowlers Live. Fellow locals Slaughter Thou will
be launching their new CD 'The Anzac Hammer' on the night as
well, while Juggermath and Vars will also be playing.
Melbourne band The Deadthings (born from the ashes of The Voodoo Lovecats) will be playing at the Crown and Anchor on Sat 30 April with Kamikaze and Los Diablos. The group are apparently very popular in their hometown and released an EP entitled 'When Hell Sleazes Over' last year.
Extreme local act Beyond Mortal Dreams have
a new promo for sale featuring a mix of tracks taken from a
2004 promo, a studio practice promo, and a rehearsal room practice
"which came out very well". Copies of the release are $10 apiece,
and an unmastered version of one of the songs, Demon Sword Infernal,
can be downloaded from the band's website, http://on.to/beyondmortaldreams.
The group also hope to record an album next month.
On the subject of new releases, the release date of Napalm Death's newest work, 'The Code is Red... Long Live The Code', is not far off now; this will be coming out (on the Century Media label) on Mon 25 Apr. The new album features contributions from Jello Biafra, Hatebreed's Jamey Jasta and Carcass's Jeff Walker, and if a four-track sampler from it that I recently listened to is any indication, the material on it displays all the aggression that fans of the band will have come to expect.
A reminder to those sending me news on upcoming
shows to please send it as soon as you can; there were a couple
of gigs I would have liked to have publicised, but couldn't
because I was notified of them too late. Otherwise, keep up
the good work! As always, send all contributions to brazel@iprimus.com.au.
