Metal News.

Local metal band Impartial will be playing their first out-of-town gigs next month, performing in Whyalla on Fri 8 April, and Port Lincoln on Sat 9 April. Joining them on their road trip will be fellow Adelaide metal outfits Enemy Of?, The Jonestown Syndicate and Later That Night. Here's hoping the mini-tour's a success for all concerned.

Fellow locals Darklord are planning three new shows for three different states, playing shows both here and in Perth in June, and in Sydney (as part of the Bloodlust festival there, at which they hope to be one of the headlining acts again) in July. The group is also writing new material, hoping to have it recorded and released by the year's end.

Local underground act Beyond Mortal Dreams will be recording an album in April as a follow-up to their currently available 2005 promo. Comprising eleven tracks, the 2005 promo is available on request for $10, and contains material from a 2004 promo, a studio practice run, and a rehearsal room demo. For more info on both this and the upcoming new album, check out the band's website at http://on.to/.beyondmortaldreams.

On the subject of releases from cult local acts, Stargazer have a new CD that is now available to order; see the band's website (www.stargazer.hm) for more details. LP versions of both this and an earlier release, 'Harbringer', will be available sometime around the end of April or in May. Sound samples from the new album can be downloaded from the aforementioned site. Mournful Congregation have also released a new album, 'The Monad Of Creation', sound samples from which can again be downloaded from the relevant band's website (in this instance, www.mournfulcongregation.tk). Copies of this can be ordered directly from the band through the website, www.thecavedistro.tk; for more info, try http://weirdtruth.jp/. Finally, a new Lord Of The Command demo will be available at the end of the month; again, see www.thecavedistro.tk for more details.

In news from across the border, Victorian band Destruktor have finally released their long-awaited MCD 'Nuclear Storm' through HellsHeadbangers. Priced at $15 (including postage), 'Nuclear Storm' can be ordered through the label (hellheadbangers.com), or band member Glenn Lynch (care of PO Box 1024, Kangaroo Flat VIC 3555); for more info, go to the band's website www.destruktor.cjb.net. In further Destruktor news, the group has found a new drummer, and hope to start rehearsing, recording and playing gigs again this year.

If you like metal, and are planning on making a trip to the States sometime during the next few months, you may find it well worth your while checking out www.ibexmoonrecords.com before finalising your travel plans; this site contains information on quite a few interesting festivals that you'll probably kick yourself for passing up the chance to attend. You should certainly plan to be in Lakewood, Ohio, on Fri 24 June and Sat 25 June, so that you can attend this year's Ohio Death Fest, featuring Flesh Gallery, Bone Crushing Annihilation, Solidification, Kenshiro, Mummification, The Wretched, Drogheda, Riphead, Legion, Dehumanized, Mutilated, Circle Of Dead Children, Grand Belial's Key, Lust Of Decay, Fully Consumed, Soulless, Biolich, Sadomasochism, Gorgasm, Brodequin, Sulaco, Cumshotte, Meat Shits, Lividity, Black Trinity, Vesperian Sorrow, Nachtmystium, Summon, Splatterhouse, Decrypt, Mortal Decay, Incantation, Funerus, Acheron and Pyrexia.

Think that this issue's column looks a bit skimpy compared to previous issues? Wondering why I'm publicising shows on the other side of the world when there's hardly any mention of Adelaide gigs? That's because hardly anyone sent me stuff during the last fortnight! Remember, the new address to send metal news to is brazel@iprimus.com.au.
