Dance News.
UK DJ Danny Howells recently criticised DJs who dress down in record company T shirts and jeans. "If you look back on that New York era of the late 70s and early 80s, people used to make a real effort and go really crazy... I still think it's good fun dressing up. We always encourage clubbers to make an effort to dress up, so why shouldn't the DJs?" Whilst I like this idea, and many Adelaide DJs have been known to go all out at the bigger parties, I think it would dilate the impact if DJs did it every week. And since Adelaide is always putting on a big show, it's a bit hard to expect the DJs to buy fancy and funny clothes AND new records every week!

I end this column on a sad note, as one third of the Drunken Allstars, DJ LJD (Lee James Dawkins) passed away recently. The Drunken Allstars are a heavyweight crew of three DJs/Producers from the UK, boasting a UK DMC Title, promote a successful breakbeat night, hold down a show on the infamous breaksfm.com internet radio station, and play some awesomely funny shows. DJ LJD will be missed by fans and friends alike.
