Having returned to Adelaide after a short tour of NSW, locals Diatribe will play at a huge all-ages show at the Le Rox (Bridgeway Hotel) on Fri 25 Feb with Sydney band 1 Shot Kill, as well as local supports Skintilla, A Red Dawn and Horrific Penetration.
Sat 12 March and Sun 13 March will see the
return of last year's highly successful hardcore and metal festival,
Prepare to Burn: this year going under the name Crafterfest
2005. Held at Fowlers Live, the all-ages event will feature
a total of thirty bands, including I Killed The Prom Queen,
Last Nerve, Hit List, Parkway Drive, Shot Point Blank and Taking
Sides. The first band takes the stage at 1:3opm on Saturday,
and 2:30pm on Sunday.
Local band Raven Black Night's debut CD, 'Choose The Dark', is now available at Big Star, Muses, and James Place Music, or can be ordered from the band by e-mailing them care of ravenblacknight@hotmail.com. The group are planning to have the launch for 'Choose The Dark' in April at this stage, and are apparently hoping to release the CD in Germany. The band also have material on the 2ZZZ 'Underearthed' CD.
Fellow locals The Loving Tongue have just
done a rather successful tour of Melbourne and will be keeping
themselves busy shooting a video clip for their song Loving
Ways. They have already produced clips for two other songs:
Lady In Black and Queen Of The Night; these have received airplay
on Rage, Channel V, and Channel 31 (as well as community stations
in Germany and South America), so keep an eye out for them.
The band also hope to start recording new material for a follow-up
to their album 'Distant Dreams' and are toying with the idea
of releasing an EP of previously unreleased material.
Fans of local band Star 10 Hash who wish to see the group perform one last time before their guitarist Lara goes to Europe for about six months should get down to The Jade Monkey on Thurs 24 Feb; the band will be doing a show with Leighstardust and Home For The Def.
Likewise, anyone wanting to see fellow locals
Slaughter Thou for what could well be their last show here for
quite a while would be well advised to keep the evening of Sat
12 Mar free. The band will be playing then at The Land of Promise
Hotel with Sarsekim, Bloodmason and a mysterious outfit called
Of Grator, "Adelaide's only exponents of extermination metal".
After that, the group go to NSW for three shows; they plan to
concentrate on recording new material upon their return.
Sydneysiders Daysend have gotten a new guitarist, Michael Kordek having (amicably) split with the band in order to "pursue the world of academia"; he was with the group for a little over two years. Replacing him is Andrew Lilly, who played his first gig with the group at the recent Metal For The Brain festival in Canberra. Lilly was informed he was in the band only some 48 hours beforehand, requiring him to fly from Melbourne to Sydney immediately, and engage in an intensive day and night rehearsal.
On Fri 4 March the Enigma Bar will be host
to the Adelaide leg of the three-state Faultline Records Showcase
Tour, featuring three of the bands signed to the label. Headlining
the show will be Walk The Earth (featuring ex-members of Superheist
and Damaged), while math-rock band Five Star Prison Cell (featuring
ex-Frankenbok vocalist Adam Glynn), and sleaze rockers Sebasrockets
will also be playing. Double Dragon will be the local support.
Local metal festival Noisefest, last held in 2000, is returning, and will be held over three days (Fri 4 March to Sun 6 March) at the Crown & Anchor Hotel. Among its attractions will be an "old school grind night" (featuring bands such as ex-locals Captain Cleanoff, Melbourne's Beanflipper, and such local outfits as Los Diablos and Manic Distortion), and a show catering to those with rock tastes (headlined by Backseat Romeos will be one of the groups at this one). The show on Sun 6 March will be an all-ages one, and feature both of the aforementioned genres.
Fans of local band Hi End Audio will not
want to miss the group's last-ever show, to be held at the Enigma
Bar on Sat 26 Feb with Victorians Away From Now, and local supports
Mere Theory and Realist Few. Hi End Audio have decided to call
it a day after the release of the recent five-way split album
'State Of Affairs' and their successful EP, 'The Fracture'.
