Metal News.
US melodic death/thrash/hardcore metal band Shadows Fall are doing an Australian tour this month, and thankfully, Adelaide will be one of their ports of call: they'll be at Fowlers Live on Tues 22 Feb with As I Lay Dying and Parkway Drive.
Local band Tidal will be doing their first
tour of Western Australia at the beginning of March, performing
a total of three shows in Margaret River and Perth. The band's
most recent CD 'Impulsive Disturbance' is now available nationally,
and apparently enjoying very complimentary reviews in music
magazines and on websites.
Fellow locals Skintilla have re-pressed their 'Shedding Skin' CD-EP after the first pressing sold out. The EP has received rave write-ups, even coming to the attention of overseas reviewers. In further good news for the band, by the time you read this, Skintilla will have performed at Canberra's Metal for the Brain (held on Sat 5 Feb). Here's hoping they impressed the locals...
In more local news, Double Dragon will be
having a CD launch at the Enigma Bar on Fri 11 Feb, with support
from Later That Night, Murder Hill and Equal Minded. Doors open
at 9PM.
In still more local news, death metal band Slaughter Thou have been confirmed as the local supports for Austrian band Pungent Stench, a group they were also fortunate to play with when the latter band came here for a show about two years ago. Pungent Stench are touring this time around to promote their latest album 'Ampeauty' and will also be supported at their Adelaide show by Queenslanders Godnose. A reminder that this show will be held at the Enigma Bar on Fri 25 Feb. In further Slaughter Thou news, the band will be doing a few NSW gigs in March, their shows including one in Wollongong, and one on a boat cruising Sydney Harbour. Bands they will be playing with include Battalion, Bludgeoner, Ebolie and Vaticide.
British grind gods Napalm Death will soon
be adding to their already extensive discography with a new
album entitled 'The Code is Red... Long Live the Code'. The
work is scheduled for release in late April and features guest
vocals from Jello Biafra, Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed), and Jeff
Walker (Carcass). Vocalist Barney Greenway says of the upcoming
release, "Well, it's a ripper - fast, progressive and a nice
bit of art-noise. With Jello Biafra, Jamey Jasta and Jeff Carcass
along for the ride, we hope it'll take your heads off - or at
least get you thinking with them. Cheers."
Local metal band Star 10 Hash wish to inform fans that the group will be putting their activities on hold for about six months while their guitarist Lara goes travelling around Europe. Before she leaves, however, the band will be putting on two last shows, playing at the Crown and Anchor on Sat 12 Feb with Vars and The Smocks; and at The Jade Monkey on Thurs 24 Feb with Leigh StarDust and Home For The Def.
