Prize Frenzy™!

You could forgive Frenzor™ for having taken some time off, what with the Big Day Out and using his infernal powers to mess capriciously with the weather and everything. However, that's not the style of dB Magazine's favourite giant winged daemon: he's found time in his busy schedule to rip all sorts of goodies from the desperate grasp of promoters, publicists and record companies so that you, dear reader, might acquire some sweet booty by ringing 8231 0881 at 1pm on Fri 11 Feb.

1. The Shins might have completely sold out, but because dB Magazine and Handsome Tours love you so well - and to celebrate Andrew P Street's chat with head Shin James Mercer in this very issue, we have two double passes to the show. Neato!

2. Matt Vesley reckons that the new CD by ...Trail Of Dead is pretty ace. We're inclined to agree, which is why 'Worlds Apart' is this issue's 'We Liked It And You Will Too'. UMG tip their hat to us with five copies.

3. Or, having read Ryan Smith's interview with Chris Head, maybe you want to punk it up with Anti-Flag at the Adelaide UniBar on Sun 20 Feb? We've got a double pass up for grabs, thanks to Blue Murder.

4. David Byrne is seconds away from playing in Adelaide, and Flashpoint wish to draw your attention to this show at the Norwood Concert Hall on Sat 12 Feb with copies of his recent 'Grown Up Backwards' and the 'Best Of Talking Heads' compilation. Which seems fair enough, really.

5. Sarah Blasko tells Ben Revi all about her debut album 'The Overture And The Underscore' in this issue, and the good people at Dew Process have slipped us three copies of said album to celebrate. Huzzah!

6. The Bird return to Adelaide to make Rhino shake to its very foundations, and the folks at Rhino reckon you should be there to be shook: we have two doubles for their show on Fri 18 Feb.

7. Or maybe you want to welcome Shihad back to Adelaide, having read Ann Marie Sosnowski's interview with Jon Toogood in this issue? Of course you do, which is why we have three doubles to their Adelaide UniBar show on Fri 11 Feb, thanks to El Dorado and TPA.

8. Now, Empire Productions aren't suggesting that any dB Magazine reader would be desperate or dateless, but they have kindly offered up two double VIP passes to the D&D Ball at the EntCent on Sat 19 Feb.

9. Ben Revi gets the lowdown from folk-blues maestro Ash Grunwald in this issue, and you could be sassing it up with Ash at the Gov on Fri 18 Feb thanks to the double passes the Gov have kindly handed over.

10. Adam Hood has a lovely chat with former Superheist axeman DW Norton about his new band Walk The Earth, and we have three copies of their self-titled debut CD, thanks to Chatterbox and Shock.

11. For those who'd rather shake their thangs, we've got three double passes to Good Vibrations at the Shores on Fri 18 Feb (and Lyrics Born discusses that very event with Alexis Buxton-Collins in this issue) - cheers to the organisers for coming to the party.

Online Only Frenzy™!

The Frenztron5000™ has picked up a humdinger of a prize to celebrate the reissuing of the Hoodoo Gurus back catalogue: we've got two packs containing 'Stoneage Romeos', 'Mars Needs Guitars', 'Blow Your Cool', 'Magnum Cum Louder', 'Kinky', 'Crank' and 'Blue Cave', thanks to EMI and The Right Profile PR: All you have to do is answer these simple Guru's related questions:

1. What's the name of the new Gurus DVD?

2. What American rock band sang backing vocals on Good Times?

3. What's the name of Brad Shepherd's other band?

Get your answers to andrew@dbmagazine.com.au: first two correct answers get the booty.

EXTRA SPECIAL BONUS ONLINE-ONLY FRENZY™!

Gabriel's Day are making their first visit to Adelaide on Wed 23 Feb and in order that you might get rightfully excited they've slipped us three copies of their debut album "Anthems & Intimacies', each with a signed poster. Nifty! First three to politely ask for a copy will be rewarded.
