Metal News.
Swedish band In Flames are putting out a DVD, due for release this June, entitled 'A Night In Flames'. This DVD will document the world tour In Flames undertook last year (a tour in which Adelaide was fortunate to be one of the cities visited), and from the sounds of it, will contain footage of the last show the band performed on that tour: a show in London on 27 December which also featured Chimaira, Lacuna Coil, and Caliban.
In the last column, passing mention was made
of local death/grind band Omnium Gatherum's decision to shorten
their name to simply Omnium. According to the band, the name
change was prompted by the signing of an Omnium Gatherum from
Finland to the Nuclear Blast label, and an understandable desire
to avoid confusion between the two groups. Details of a new
band website will be available soon. A reminder that O.G. will
play their first show as Omnium on Sat 29 Jan at the Enigma
Bar with Victoria's Steel Affliction, Imminent Psychosis, and
Blood Mason.
'Alien', the latest release of Canadian band Strapping Young Lad, will be out on 21 March. The eleven-track album will feature the combined talents of band front-man Devin Townsend, guitarist Jed Simon, drummer Gene Hoglan and bass player Bryon Stroud, and according to Townsend will be the group's "most maniacal and outlandish offering to date."
An early announcement here for 'Metal Easter',
an all-ages show brought to you by DaBigPig Promotions, and
to be held at Fowlers Live on Sun 27 Mar. The event, which will
also be the official launch of Delirium Clothing, will feature
ten bands. More details as they come to hand.
Finally, an apology to anyone who sent me news during the last week or so, and is wondering why it hasn't been included in this column; my internet connection has totally stuffed up (to put it in nice, technical terms) during the last few days. This problem will be remedied in time for the next column, so keep the metal news coming!
