Big news of this fortnight has got to be the demise of Traffic Nightclub. After two years, a simple post on the various web forums reads: "Thanks to everyone who has supported Traffic over the last 2 years. Unfortunately it has not remained viable to keep the business running so the doors are now closed." This shock announcement has caused promoters to scramble for new venues and clubbers to wonder how we will cope without one of the best clubs Adelaide has ever seen. We all have fond memories of nights at Traffic, whether it is with the locals at Push or DJs Delight, quality Australian acts like Kid Kenobi, Bexta and Pendulum, and international acts like Krafty Kuts, Z-Trip, or Marky & Stamina. Hopefully this doesn't mean the end of the quality acts, but one thing for sure is that all those involved in the scene will sorely miss Traffic, be it promoter, DJ or punter. We at dB Magazine thank Blake for all he has done.

So, now what's happening with all the gigs that were to be held at Traffic? Tali, Hollie G, Zaniah and Motive will now be held at Black Cat on Gouger St, whilst the encore performance of Concord Dawn on Fri 4 Feb (after the Big Day Out) will now be held at Tonic, 63 Light Square. Others still up in the air include Suv and MC Natural and Blind2, while the Arrested Development Adelaide show has been cancelled altogether.

On Fri 28 Feb the Adelaide Techno Movement (ATM) continue the free party vibe. This time round the founders of the movement, Fataldose and Devious, are stepping aside to let Adelaide's talented techno acts battle it out! The line up includes Amoeba (live), Tim Carter (Thrillseeker Records), Quantum (Acid Tech set), Ben Watt, Rat and Miss Em, with more to be announced. The Soda Room is the place to shake your thang!

The 'Jam' returns to Mojo West on the last Friday of the month. Selectors for Fri 28 will be G-Swift, Crispian, Funky J and Trucker, playing the undervalued styles from breaks and hip-hop to UK garage, 4x4, dancehall. Rumour has it that there may even be a splash of drum'n'bass!

A couple of rumour confirmations - Kid Koala DID play Adelaide a couple of nights before this edition hit the streets as part of the Adelaide Festival. DJ Krush is playing with Freq Nasty on Thurs 10 Feb at Black Cat, and the Prodigy are headlining Two Tribes, performing with Grand Master Flash, Armand Van Helden, Ritchie Hawtin, Dave Seaman, Rank 1, M.I.K.E, Junior Sanchez, Thomas Shumacher, Hyper, Andy Farley, Ed Real, Jan Johnson, Andy Rother and Luke Chabel, which is happening Sat 12 March at the Adelaide Showgrounds.

But, before we get too excited about Two Tribes, the Big Day Out hits town this week. The Boiler Room is featuring a stellar line up including Chemical Brothers, DJ Carl Cox, Freestylers, DJ Bexta, Infusion, DJ Jonathan Wall, Concord Dawn, Atmosphere, DJ Tyrone Jacobs, Decoder Ring, Lachlan Pender, Kid606, Deceptikonz, DJ Goodhed, whilst other acts to take note of are Scribe with P Money, The Streets, Hilltop Hoods and the Beastie Boys.

Whilst Adelaide usually misses out on a lot of things the Eastern States get, I don't think we're too unfortunate to miss out on the new female toilets. For the first time in Australia, female only urinals, or 'Shee Pees' as they have become known, will be provided to women at the Melbourne BDO. A number of male style urinals and conventional toilets will be available; to use the facilities, women will be provided with complimentary P-Mates - disposable, leak-proof paper funnels which enable women to urinate easily while standing up. Complimentary P-Mates will be provided and six-packs will also be available for purchase.
