Big Day Out Art Competition 2005.

You don't make it easy for us, beloved readers. Every year we ask for you to submit your artwork and every year you fill the dB Magazine office to bursting with extraordinary pieces of work: everything from sculpture to sketches, from paintings to pinatas, from digital collage to bags to enormous yellow robots... but at the end of the day, there can only be one winner and that is Dave Gale, whose eye-catching piece is on the front cover right this second; chances are you would have noticed it on the way to this page. He's scored himself a double VIP pass to the Big Day Out plus a pack of CDs by damn near every band on the bill, thanks to the BDO and Fantin Comes Alive - and, of course, dB Magazine.

Runners up in what you'll agree was a close, close race include Jade Harland (left - whose Love Music Love Life piece was an office favourite), Josh2000 Projekts (whose digitial entry was also an absolute corker - below) and Rosie Hunt (whose eastern flavoured piece gave us all pause), and their work represents just a smidgeon of the 50-odd pieces we received in total.

Nice work, everyone. Let's do it again for 2006.

(And if you submitted an entry and would like to retrieve it - which we'd like, since we're up to our necks in art here - please pop by the dB Magazine office this week and grab it with our thanks. We'd rather not bin all this creative outpouring).
