Prize Frenzy™!

Ah! 'Tis the final Prize Frenzy™ of the year and it's just like Christmas, except that it's a day early, the gifts are infinitely better than Saint Nick's pitiful haul and Frenzor™ doesn't give a hoot as to whether you've been naughty or nice. Stuff behaving all year in the hopes of getting something rad: all you have to do is call 8231 0881 at 1pm on Fri 24 Dec and ask politely for your choice of the following:

1. Each year dB Magazine's writer's vote for their favourite releases of the year (see the complete list on page 17), and their pick for Australian Album of the Year is... The Redsunband's 'Peapod'! It was also 'We Liked It And You Will Too' in issue #339 back in July, but just in case you didn't take Ben Revi's advice and grab it back then, Liberation have been more than happy to furnish us with three copies. You'll soon hear why it won our hearts.

2. In Eddie Chan's review of Soulwax's rather brilliant 'Any Minute Now' in October, he concluded "I doubt that this album will appear on many people's favourite lists this year, which is a shame because I think it will be at the top of mine." Clearly many of dB Magazine's writers concurred, since it was voted our International Album of the Year. Hence, if you didn't heed Mr Chan's words back then, you can grab a copy - complete with snazzy holographic stickers - thanks to the celebratory types at Shock.

3. On the other hand, you could just learn your lesson and start paying closer attention to Eddie Chan's recommendations: he reckons Pinback's 'Summer In Abbadon' is freaking great (and chats with Rob Crow in this issue). It's also this issue's 'We Liked It And You Will Too', and Inertia have given us three copies to celebrate.

4. Or perhaps vampires hunting down their own kind is more your cup of tea? We have a slew of in season double passes to 'Blade Trinity' (starring Wesley Snipes, don't you know) thanks to Foster Workshop PR.

5. Steven Hocking thinks you'll have to make your own mind up about Kings Of Leon's 'Aha Shake Heartbreak', and as it happens BMG have chosen to facilitate this via giving us a handful of copies.

6. The good people at the Salvation Army and Myer have also furnished us with some copies of 'The Spirit Of Xmas', featuring seasonally-appropriate tracks from the likes of James Reye, Cosima De Vito, Christine Anu, George, Guy Sebastian and more. What better way to mark the season than a series of Australian icons getting all Xmassy on you?

7. Or maybe you'd prefer to catch 'A Very Long Engagement', directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and starring the utterly stunning Audrey Tautou (who starred in Jeunet's 'Amelie')? We have ten season passes on offer, thanks to Foster Workshop PR.

8. And finally, we have our annual Brown Paper Packages Tied Up With String: we've collected up unclaimed prizes from throughout the year and bundled them up. There could be anything in there - Frenzor™'s certainly not about to give any clues - but there's bound to be something you'll adore. Surely.

Please note: the dB Magazine office is closed from around 2pm Fri 24 Dec and won't reopen until Tues 4 Jan, so if you can't pick your prize up on the day you'll just have to wait until the new year. Think of it as a little bit of extra Christmas!
