Dance News.
There are rumours around that there might be some life in Enchanted and Port Gawler after all. The promoters have placed a couple of posts and polls on the most popular dance music web sites, and are garnering interest and opinions from those that went, as well as those that didn't. Personally I don't care where it is, as long as they bring the class of acts that have been brought over the last two years. From a rave point of view, the Enchanted crew are above and beyond anyone else, but it's the hip-hop and breaks acts that have been billed over the last few years that have drawn the strongest reactions recently, with people appreciating the diversity of sound.
Enchanted may get a run for their money this
year. Rumour has it that Good Vibrations is possibly hitting
Adelaide in Feb. The east coast and Perth line up for the festival
is set to feature Scissor Sisters, Mylo, Arrested Development,
Handsome Boy Modelling School (featuring Dan the Automator and
Prince Paul), DJ Format & Abdominal, Bent, Amp Fiddler & Lyrics
Born, Layo & Bushwacka, Jacques Lu Cont, Ben Watt (Everything
But the Girl), Bugz In The Attic vs Jazzanova, Rob Da Bank,
Lazy Boy Sound System, DJ Patife & Cleveland Watkiss, Max Sedgley
and Blood & Fire featuring Rankin' Joe, so even a smaller event
featuring just a few of these acts would be pretty amazing.
Hopefully we will be recognised for being the festival state
once again!
Speaking of parties, it's Christmas, and when you're full of Christmas dinner, what better way to work it off as two of Adelaide's most experienced and respected party promoters join forces for an amazing aural Xmas feast, as System 6 and Elysium Productions present White Christmas. St Pauls will be transformed into Christmas rave heaven, and they're saving the best presents until last with Brisk, Warp Brothers, Organ Donors live, Matt Thomas (Banga Matt) and Melbourne's Will E Tell alongside Adelaide's favourite locals. This all goes down Christmas Night, Sat 25 Dec.
If you've never seen Andy C, then you've
missed out on seeing the greatest drum'n'bass DJ in the world.
The way this guy plays will get even the most jaded raver boogying.
MC GQ will be joining him at the Old Queens Theatre on NYE,
if you haven't got your tickets by the time you read this, I
suggest you stop reading, and rush to get them!
The Shores On A New Years Day 2003/4 saw over 3000 people enjoying a fun day with great vibes and music. It's happening again on Sat 1 Jan and all styles of dance music will be covered, as well as settings which includes couch area, outdoor stage, access to the beach, massages, pool tables, table tennis, cocktails, decking, wading pools, umbrellas and cold drinks. DJs include Kevin Griffiths, The Swiss live, Bundi, Sanjii, Delux and many more.
I have never been so excited about the dance
music scene since I first started getting into it over 10 years
ago. 2004 has been an awesome year for dance and hip-hop music
in Adelaide, with some of our locals doing very well out of
it -so good luck to all the promoters, artists, DJs and producers
who are putting Adelaide on the map once again. No doubt things
will continue bigger and better in 2005, and I eagerly await
the new year. We at dB wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas
and Happy New Year!
