Metal News.
Former vocalist Jesse Aiken (Jester) has announced his return to Aeturnus Dominion, in time for the band to commence recording the follow-up to the 2003 debut 'Semper Tyranis'. The "Aussie bastard metallers" are also pleased to announced that they were listed as one of the top 10 Australian metal bands of 2004 at the recent Music Oz Awards. Check out their new website aeturnusdominion.com.
Featuring three former members of Nun Nicer,
Impartial are the newest act to keep an eye out for in the local
scene. They've only been together a short time, but they're
already preparing to launch their debut EP on Fri 10 Dec at
Fowlers Live. 'Impatient For Change' has been described as seven
tracks of "catchy and uncompromising powerful pop metal". Hear
it for yourself at the launch, which includes a massive line-up
of Enemy Of?, Snap To Zero, The Jonestown Syndicate and Double
Dragon. Doors open at 7pm.
War Room at Enigma on Fri Dec 3 looks set to be a night of hardcore/metal cross-over with Melbourne's Behind Crimson Eyes and locals Hi End Audio and The Stanford Prison Experiment. The night also sees the official launch of Isis's newie, plus giveaways including Agnostic Front, Pig Destroyer, GhostRider and NOFX. Also keep an eye out for details of a huge War Room two-day festival at the end of the year.
Don't forget the joint Deluge/Meat Wallet
CD launch at Enigma on Fri 10 Dec. Deluge will be launching
the long-awaited follow-up to 'Of Plague And Conquest,' entitled
'Diluvial Sorcery', while Meat Wallet's newie is called 'Wrong
Side Of Capitalism'. Other bands include Blood Mason and Imminent
Psychosis.
Beer-swilling, fist-pumping metal heads Usurper are set to release 'Cryptobeast', the follow-up to 2003's 'Twilight Dominion' in Jan 2005. Usurper's latest metal opus marks the return of original drummer and co-founder Joe 'Apocalyptic' Warlord as well as the recording debut of new vocalist Dan 'Tyrantor' Lawson. 'Cryptobeast' is a completely over-the-top release, and features one of the more memorable metal choruses of recent years: "Kill for metal!"
Terror will be returning to our shores for
a Jan 2005 national tour. Taking the ethics and straightforward
guitar assault of The Cro-Mags and Agnostic Front and combining
it with their own rapid-fire drum lines and trademark double-fisted
vocal attack courtesy of frontman Scott Vogel, Terror reject
the latest trends for old school hardcore values - sing-a-longs,
circle pits, and all. Terror will play an all ages show at Fowlers
Live on Wed 19 Jan. Tickets are currently on sale through dB
Magazine. Their latest album 'One With The Underdogs' is out
now on Trustkill Records/Stomp.
Cult of Luna have released a video for Leave Me Here,
one of the tracks from their latest album 'Salvation'. It's
one of the more unusual clips you'll see this year. Reminiscent
of the Tim Burton stop-motion school of filmmaking, the clip
presents a series of puzzling and thought-provoking images.
The unique clip perfectly reflects the unique music, and will
further cement the band's place as one of the leading lights
of the post-hardcore scene. To check it out, follow the links
on the Earache website www.earache.com.
Ultraviolence are set to release a 2-CD retrospective,
entitled 'Blown Away 94-04', on Mon 6 Dec. With 30 tracks spanning
the act's ten-year career, Disc 1 features highlights from their
five albums, while Disc 2 features remixes from artists as varied
as Laibach, Leechworm, Misery Loves Co and OLD, as well as Lenny
Dee (Industrial Strength) and UK trance-core legend Billy Bunter.
Plus there will also be two exclusive new tracks from the industrial/cyber
innovators. 'Blown Away 94-04' will be rounded out by exclusive
liner notes by Ultraviolence mainman Johnny Violent.
