OK, Summer has finally hit us in full force, and the parties are coming think and fast! First and foremost in party people's minds is, of course, Enchanted. This time it's pretty much a given that this will be the LAST party of this kind. Due to spiralling insurance costs and the lack of decent venues, this will be the last ever all night rural Enchanted. This year's stellar line up includes (deep breath) Nu NRG Collective, Kevin Energy, Sharkey, Adam Jay, Mike Humphries, Kenny M, K Complex, Martian, Paul Nisbet, Devious, Jorge Watts, Odyssey, Sniper, Mr S, Quantum, Submission, Cheeky B, Adrian V, Travis, Crystal Method, Kenny Ken, High Contrast, Mystique, Nextmen, Lee, Pendulum, Shapeshifter, Signify, Steinski, Em Dee, Shock one, John Doe, Mark 7, MPK, Patch, Fiction, Skyver & D Jon, Harass, Static, Scott Brown, Hixxy, AMS, Thief, Gene Hoffman, PDT, Amoeba, H Bomb vs Noddy, Fatal Dose, Bek vs Tim Carter, and Rat. Phew! And lets not forget the MCs with a very strong rumour of Dynamite MC, alongside Sharkey, Maestro D, Rudeboy, Xpress, Griff, Pase and Mennan. And for those who don't drive, there are busses leaving Franklin Street Bus Station.

It's been a long time coming, and now we're finding out what the Hard Dance world already knew: Adelaide has a crop of world-class Hard Dance producers capable of mixing it with the best. 'Adelaide Energy' (mixed by Luke 'Bongo' Annett) is a showcase of home grown Hard House and NRG tunes, featuring tracks from Matt Rains, Narc, Odyssey, H-Division, Matt Knowles, Impulz, Dillusion and Iva Ugcock. Many of the tracks already feature in leading UK DJs charts and are getting regular airplay in Europe, and of course Australia. Many of these tracks are available to DJs in MP3 format through Australia's first digital dance record label, Volatile, available from trackitdown.net.

And not to be outdone, the other big sound from the south - drum'n'bass - is once again getting heard through 5158's 'Adelaide d'n'b Volume 4.' Released during the first week of December, 5158 Record's next instalment features a plethora of talented artists from well know local d'n'b entities through to new skool producers. Artists including Skyver, Djon, Rummage, Hooligan Soul, Mark7, E theory, Patch, Fiction, Luke-B, Khem, Tech Nine, Well Being, Luther, Lawrie-B, Catastrophic, Vilen and more have all contributed, and considering that Vol 3 has been in the Local Noise charts for months, make your little raver as happy as Larry with this double CD stuffed in their stocking.

Ready to unleash your DJ skills onto the unsuspecting public? Want to get some experience in a club? Adelaide has gone DJ competition MAD! If you missed entering in the Cumby and Heaven/Surgery contest, then try your luck with the Soda Room. Bounce & Soda room are looking for Adelaide's undiscovered DJ talent. Competition is open to all interested, aspiring DJs mixing any style of dance music - but get your entries in now, as there are only limited spots available. To enter the competition or get more info, email us with your name, style, and contact details to sodabounce@internode.on.netHeat 1 kicks off on Sat 11 Dec.

Steve Gerrard's last show (at Minke where he partied it alongside James Holden) was nominated as one of Adelaide's best events for 2003, and he'll be hitting the newly renovated Traffic on Sat 11 Dec for three spectacular hours, so make sure you get along to spread the love for one final time this year! Local support comes from Mal Chia, Brendon, ATB and Lachy Pender.

Loco lads Cyprus Hill return to Adelaide to smoke it up once again on Sun 12 Dec.

And in sad news family members and friends paid tribute to Ol Dirty Bastard this week, after the 35 year old hip-hop star collapsed and died in a recording studio, after completing work on his upcoming artist album 'Osirus'. Record label Sureshot confirmed this week it will still be released at the end of December. The posthumous release will mark twelve years since ODB first found fame as one of the founder members of East Coast rappers Wu Tang Clan, who achieved worldwide success with their debut album 'Enter the Wu-Tang 36 Chambers'.
