Dance News.
Some of you may be as annoyed as me by the cancellation of the
Scratch 2004 tour. I was all geared up to see this, seeing as
Rob Swift is one of my favourite all time DJs. There's been
lots of rumours flying about, but the truth is after thirteen
years as an X-ecutioner, Swift left to concentrate on his solo
music projects. The split was amicable but immediate. Replacing
him for future events will be DJs Boogie Blind and Precision.
Boogie Blind, childhood friend of Roc Raida and DJ for Pharoahe
Monche is a former Vestax World Champion and Precision is protege
of Swift, an Allies Beatdown World Champion and has previously
appeared on tour with The X-ecutioners. So it's not a total
bummer, but we'll have to wait a little longer to see them.
The Nerdcore Collective are bringing 'Two
Turntables and a Macintosh' to the Rhino Room on Fri 15 Oct,
promising a night of "beats, breaks. beeps and Gameboys." Minikomi
and Red Rabbit are hosting and performing, with live performaces
also on offer from Ichanic, Sam and Jah Trinity, live art from
Chris Tamm and Starship Trippers on the VJ tip.
After the success of the 100 Rewinds, the innovative show that
had punters voting on and then hearing their favourite tracks
back to back, The Modern Era counts down the greatest d'n'b
from the last four years. It'll be held once again at Traffic,
the home of d'n'b, with DJs Noddy, Patch, John Doe and Mark
7 with MCs Xpress and G Swift on Fri 15 Oct.
Kid Kenobi and MC Sureshock are set to rock
Adelaide once again appearing at traffic on Sat 16 Oct, supporting
Kid Kenobi's 'Ministry of Sound Breaks 04' CD. The man who just
can't stop winning awards is back to show us why breaks are
booming big across Australia with local support by John Doe,
Brendon, ATB, Damage, and Lachy Pender.
Rumours are bouncing all over the web boards regarding who's
playing at Enchanted this year, and where and when it was going
to be held. Initial reports had it 5 minutes out of the city,
but latest rumours point to be out somewhere in the McLaren
wine region. There's some acts which have been 100% confirmed
and there are some exciting big names there - Stienski, Next
Men, Kenny Ken, Shapeshifter, Adam Jay, Mike Humphries, Nu NRG,
Kevin NRG & Sharkey, AMS, K Komplex, Scott Brown, Hixxy, High
Contrast, DJ Lee and DJ Signify. Add to that a few more internationals
and interstate DJs, and Adelaide's greatest who can well and
truly hold their own, this should be another memorable show.
