Beyonce: Live At Wembley
Directed by Kim Burse
Rating: E
Running time approx.150 Minutes
Distributor: Sony
This DVD is a great chance to see what a Beyonce concert would be like if she ever decided to visit our shores. It includes the full concert performance shot at Wembley in London during her international tour, is jam-packed with extras and also includes a bonus CD with three remixes and three new songs.
When you put together glamorous costumes, spunky dancers, a powerful voice and (in my opinion) the world's sexiest woman, this is what you get: She enters the stage from above, hanging upside down to start the concert with Baby Boy followed by the delightfully sexy Naughty Girl. Just as you're getting into the r'n'b of it she goes back in time for a fantastic version of Fever. She even relives her Destiny's Child days by singing snippets of their greatest hits to the delighted crowd, but you know that they are dying to hear the songs in full. She keeps the audience enthralled as she slows it down for some slow, heartfelt ballads - then has the crowd jumping out of their seats as she funks it up.
Her encore performance of Crazy in Love is electrifying: I tell you, that girl is all legs. And as for that ass shaking dance move from the video clip: now, you try doing it in front of the mirror and see if you don't look like an idiot - yet she makes it sexy. It's a gift!
The extensive extras include a behind the scenes look at the making of the concert including the staging and choreography, plenty of interviews with Beyonce and other members of her staff plus what she does on a day off (and it's not a lot of relaxing). Remixes of Crazy In Love, Naughty Girl and Baby Boy with the Jamaican freestyling of Sean Paul are included on the bonus CD.
This DVD will keep you entertained for hours, be it just enjoying a concert that takes in many eras and genres of music, exploring the captivating extras, or just admiring a woman who sings, dances and oozes sex appeal.
