Adelaide's Diatribe have just returned from some highly successful interstate performances, having played in Melbourne and Sydney with the likes of Bowel Mouth and One Shot Kill. Negotiations are now well underway for a larger tour of NSW and Vic for Sept/Oct this year. You can catch Diatribe for a huge licenced, all ages show on Fri 2 July at Le Rox (Bridgeway Hotel) with The Jonestown Syndicate, Skintilla, Equal Minded and Distorted Minds.
Cathedral's immense double-CD package 'The Serpent's Gold' is now available in stores. Fully endorsed by the band, this collection covers the band's entire career with Earache. Clocking in at two and a half hours, 'The Serpent's Gold' contains 27 tracks, including 11 previously unreleased tunes. The first CD is a 'Best Of', while the second CD features tracks from the legendary second demo, rare live performance, three completely unheard tracks, radically different versions of established favourites and even a Witchfinder General cover. In addition to this, the package also includes an exhaustive interview with Lee Dorrian, plus track-by-track commentary courtesy of guitarist Gaz Jennings.
Following the success of their national support with Anthrax, Soilwork and Killswitch Engage, which saw sold out shows around Australia, Embodiment 12:14 are heading out around the country on their own tour! The local hardcore heavy weights will be showcasing their latest release 'Inroads Out', which is receiving rave reviews and has been backed by consistent rotation on Triple J. Embodiment 12:14 will play the Adelaide leg of their tour on Sat 17 July at the Enigma Bar for the fourth installment of The War Room, 'Battle Royale,' with a huge lineup that also includes Melbourne's Frankenbok and Contrive, plus locals Truth Corroded and newcomers Never Again. The night will also feature giveaways from your favourite metal and hardcore labels, including Roadrunner, Victory, Ferret, Earache and Century Media. The show is over 18s only, and will feature guest metal DJs. The next War Room, to be held on Fri 20 Aug, will feature Captain Cleanoff, Omnium Gatherum and Melbourne's great melodic metallers Shallow Grave.
Tasmanian black metallers Ruins have recently signed a deal with Blacktalon Media. The band's first release for the label will be the 'Atom And Time' MCD, available in Australian stores from the beginning of August. Ruins' debut full length is expected to arrive sometime next year. Founded by Alex Pope, the band's current lineup also features Psycroptic drummer Dave Haley. According to the band: "Dave's influence instills a blasting direction into the songwriting process, however not removing the desolate and chilling feel that was central to the vision of Ruins."
Head down to the Gov Hindmarsh on Sat 3 July for a night of progressive rock with The Loving Tongue, Kunk (featuring Ben and Shane from Deluge) and Lotosoma. The Loving Tongue's set will include Gavin O'Loghlen on keyboards and irish whistle, plus Chris from Agathus guesting on guitar for some songs. The band will also soon be doing a video for Queen Of The Night.
A previously unreleased Mayhem track, Anno Vampir (believed to be the first song ever written by the band's current lineup) will appear on an upcoming Season of Mist compilation due out later this year.
Earache Records has uploaded a scan of the Entertainment Weekly article regarding the controversial cancellation of Decapitated's upcoming US tour. Apparently the Polish death metallers' band name was considered a sensitive issue following the decapitation of US citizen Nick Berg in Iraq, similar to the controversy surrounding Anthrax during the biological warfare scares a couple of years ago.
