Plague Of The Dead
Independent

As should be fairly obvious from the title of this EP and the name of the NSW-based band behind it, 'Plague Of The Dead' is a death metal release and a traditional one at that. Appearing to deal with the favourite death metal subject of horror (if the titles of the tracks on it - The Stirring Morgue, Zombie Attack, Wake To Death, Mental Autopsy, and Disturbed - are anything to go by), it's a fairly short piece of work, clocking in at just over fifteen minutes.

The material thereon reveals the band's name to be an apt one: after a brief, ominous-sounding intro gets things started, the EP subjects the listener to a virtually non-stop assault of brutal death metal. The only respite is provided by a beautiful section of gentle, haunting guitar music at the beginning of the final track. The band are clearly technically proficient and while 'Plague Of The Dead' is perhaps nothing groundbreaking, this is still well worth your time.
