Diatribe have just returned from another successful tour of Queensland over the Easter break where they helped Brisbane's Minus Life launch their new CD. Now Minus Life head south to launch their CD with Diatribe in Adelaide on Fri 30 April at the Bridgeway Hotel, Pooraka. Also featured on this huge, licensed all ages show are Omnium Gatherum, Skintilla and Equal Minded. Doors open 7.30pm.

Two weeks later, the Bridgeway will host another huge metal event, Northern Assault. Featuring Raven Black Night, Sarsekim, Juggermath, Slaughter Thou and Mythica, the show will be held on Fri 14 May, the same night as Nun Nicer's show at the Esplanade Hotel, Brighton with Borderland.

Following their successful Opeth support, Virgin Black have completed work on their first video clip, a radio-edit version of Our Wings Are Burning. The clip will be made available for download on the Virgin Black website and at TheEndRecords.com very soon, plus a full quality DVD version will be released on a compilation put together by The End Records later this year. In other Virgin Black news, the band will undertake a national tour with black metal legends Nazxul during May and June, with the Adelaide show being held on Fri 4 June at O2 Nightclub. But until then, Virgin Black's next live performance will take place on Sat 1 May with Day of Contempt, Minus Life and Paradise Burning.

And having just returned home from the Australian tour where, according to the band's website, "all six concerts were fantastic and the support from the crowd was overwhelming", Opeth have sent out a call for fans to help out with the artwork for the next album. Opeth want to include hand drawn, black-and-white pictures of the band members (as opposed to a photograph) in the next album sleeve. Are you a skilled artist? Send your work to info@opeth.com. Think Rainbow's 'Long Live Rock N' Roll' and you'll get the idea of what they're after!

Armed with a new album and a new line-up, Soulfly are back! Joined by ex-Ill Nino guitarist Marc Rizzo, original Soulfly drummer Joe Nunez and Megadeth bass player Dave Ellefson, mainman Max Cavalera has assembled an album that his most eclectic 'world metal' release to date, whilst still possessing some straight-up in-your-face metal anthems such as the lead track Execution Style. Soulfly's fourth album 'Prophecy' is currently in stores, released in a standard jewel case as well as a limited edition digi pack.

Melbourne-based gothic doom kings Elegeion are currently at Nesci Recording Studios in Adelaide, recording and mixing down their second album for Modern Invasion Music. Sounding like a darker, doom version of Evanescence crossed with My Dying Bride, the new release is due out in August. For more information, check out www.moderninvasionmusic.com or email elegion@yahoo.com.

Tassie death metallers Psycroptic are currently working on new material, which will be previewed during the upcoming Deeds of Flesh national tour (Adelaide will be the first port of call on Fri 25 June at Enigma, with local support from Omnium Gatherum). The band also have tentative plans to release this material on an EP sometime in the near future, and are hoping to tour Europe late 2004 - however both are still in the planning stages, so keep checking their website for updates.

Finland's Nightwish have uploaded three audio samples from their forthcoming album 'Once'. Preview the album's first single Nemo, plus Planet Hell and Dark Chest of Wonders at www.nightwish.com/english/mp3. All files are 1-2 minutes long and are available at a bitrate of 96-192 Kb/s. The follow-up to 2002's 'Century Child' will be released in Europe in June, but an Australian release date has yet to be announced.
