Please Go Hop!
Border Project
Higher Ground Until Sat 13 March

The 80s has such a stigma to it and everyone who grew up then seems to be ashamed of the clothes they wore, the music they danced to and the films they loved, but we all know you secretly still love all your 'eighties memories. The Atari games of Space Invaders, Patrick Swayze from 'Dirty Dancing', winning Uno or watching Transformers on Saturday morning television... Well that's just the tip of the iceberg. Please Go Hop! is the most hilarious trip down memory lane.

The Border Project, a company committed to exploring experimental theatre, have dug up their old memories and researched the era through and through to create the ultimate 1980s board game, better than the pop-o-matic TROUBLE game and Twister combined. It is played live on a massive board on the floor by six contestants (the members of The Border Project), all born pre 1980. As they play, the endearing performers let you into their past, tell you stories of their youth, secrets of their teenage years and what they can remember from trivia growing up in the 80s. Please Go Hop! runs for 4 hours, but once you've got your ticket you can come and go as you please. Every hour on the hour, there is a five minute break so you can have a cigarette or buy a beer and not miss any of the the action. This reviewer was riveted and stayed for the entire four hours with only quick breaks for fresh air (with all the excitement and people in there it can get a little stuffy). If you intend to only see a few sections, I suggest going for the first hour or two and then return for the final elimination round in the last hour, that's when most of the more intriguing game play happens.

Also note the address in the Fringe Guide is absolutely WRONG! Go to the venue Higher Ground, 176 Pulteney St, Adelaide, Please Go Hop! plays 9 - 13 March at 5pm.
