Daniel Kitson
Presented by The Melbourne International Comedy Festival
Nova Cinema 2
Until Sun 14 Mar
British comedian Daniel Kitson is one fellow you wouldn't want to upset. What he lacks in brawn he most certainly makes up in vitriol. And worst of all, he's more than likely to wait till he's half way across the other side of the world before he exacts his revenge. His hour long show this night was set out in three parts, but somehow splintered off into countless others and, and much to the chagrin of the venue operators, ran half hour overtime. The show itself is near indescribable; even though the point of each of his stories may be unforgettable, every well placed word used to (eventually) get to the tale's end is literally there only for the moment.
If you to ask me to repeat any of his material, all I could honestly recite back would be a whole string of "F" and "C" words, but boy would I ever be chuckling to myself.
Kitson is one of the most complex, intelligent, socially reclusive, observational and overall potty mouthed comedian you're ever likely to witness. Sure he may not leave his home unless totally necessary, but when he does you can bet there'd be some c*** out there to upset his day. And that's when we get to hear about it.
Constantly deviating from any the original story to tell us of this c*** here, and that c*** there (who are usually past audience members), God help you should you do even the slightest thing to piss him off. Not content to just expose you to the crowd, he will relentlessly dog you for an explanation as well. And this is coming from a seemingly harmless looking man with Coke bottle glasses, untamed hair and beard, and dressed in nerd clothing. Get along and see this show, he'll hate you for it.
