Do you want to hear special guest DJs and be able to request your favourite metal and hardcore songs? Win CDs and tickets? Then head to Enigma (upstairs) on the last weekend of every month for The War Room. The War Room begins on Fri 26 March with special guests Truth Corroded and new-comers Celebrity Minefield. The cost is $6, with doors open from 9pm til late.
Following their appearance at The War Room,
Truth Corroded will then join Frankenbok on the Blood Oath tour,
playing shows in Warnambool and Melbourne in April. In May,
Truth Corroded will enter Soundhouse Studios to record new songs
for a release later in the year. The new release will consolidate
the band's new line-up and direction, and is tentatively titled
'Our Enemy Is The Weapon'. Release dates have yet to be finalised,
but keep checking www.truthcorroded.com for updates.
Long running Australian metal band Damaged have officially split up. Matt Skitz has an enlarged heart which renders him unable to play drums. Out of respect for their former bandmate, the remaining members will no longer perform under the name Damaged but will instead start a new project.
Destruction have posted preview clip for
their upcoming live DVD 'Live Discharge: 20 Years of Total Destruction'
on their website www.destruction.neotecc.net. The tracks Ravenous
Beast, Machinery of Lies and Live Without Sense are current
available for download. The DVD, due out in March, will also
come with a bonus CD featuring the 'Alive Devastation' Japan-only
release from 2003.
Also now available online is Deicide's first ever video, for the title track off their brand new album 'Scars Of The Crucifix'. It can be accessed via the Earache Records website www.earache.com.
Dreadnaught will enter the studio in late
May with producer DW Norton to record a new full-length album,
tentatively due in August/Sept through Dark Carnival. According
to the band's website, "this coming album represents a slight
change in direction for Dreadnaught to a more classic rock feel
(a la Thin Lizzy, AC/DC) from the more metal-crossover oriented"
previous releases. "Lotsa loud guitars, lotsa grunt and lotsa
rock!"
New releases are also in the works for Praetorian, who have recently commenced recording their second album, and Alarum who have just finished adding the finishing touches to their new CD which is due out soon. One of its tracks, Boundless Intent, will also appear on a forthcoming Australian compilation. Meanwhile, Contrive are currently writing new material for an upcoming EP due out mid year. It is reported to include a 1989/1990-era cover of Australian metal legends Armoured Angel.
And finally, an early heads-up about Metal
Easter at Fowlers Live on Sun 18 April, an all-ages event which
already boasts a lineup that includes I Killed The Prom Queen,
Day Of Contempt, Full Frontal Lobotomy, Parkway Drive, Shotpointblank
and many more. If you're a metal act that's interested in getting
on the bill, send a demo and bio to Pigsy via PO Box 7050 West
