Set to play Adelaide for the first time since their national tour with Pungent Stench, Melbourne's Atomizer are doing shows across Australia to promote their third album 'The Only Weapon of Choice'. Declared album of the year by Melbourne 'zine Depth Charge, the album is available domestically through MGM distro and has been released internationally by rising European extreme metal label Agonia Records. Atomizer are also set to perform a slew of dates in Europe and South American during August and Sept this year. They will play the Land of Promise on Sat 20 March with Slaughter Thou, Juggermath, Silovanje and Lapdancer. It's an all ages show and doors open at 8pm.

In other Slaughter Thou news, the band are featured on the recent 'Underearthed 2' compilation, released by Sydney's 2RRR radio show 'The End'. The double disc, featuring songs by 25 bands from the Australian underground including Miscreation, The Amenta, Lycanthia, Maximum Perversion, Bludgeoner, Ebolie, Forlorn Suffering and fellow Adelaide band Deluge, is available for $15 through the bands or by emailing plaguepromotions@dodo.com.au.

Adrift, the hard rock side project of Cannibal Corpse guitarist Jack Owen and ex-Epitaph/Resurrection drummer Kevin Astl, have completed work on their debut EP, three songs from which (Empty Dreams, Broken Mirror and Fear of Day) are currently available for streaming or for download at www.adrift.cc. Commented Astl: "I think the Adrift songs are going to catch a lot of people by surprise. If you're looking for a rehash of Hammer Smashed Face, you won't find it. If, however, you are looking for well-written, aggressive songs you can identify with, along with a heavy, grooving sound like any mainstream band, Adrift may offer you what you are looking for - a pleasurably introspective listening experience. Hell, it just rocks, and we have a blast playing it!"

Polish death metal veterans Vader have been forced to postpone the recording of their new album, tentatively titled 'Spiritual Disease'. Apparently drummer Doc suffered an unfortunate accident in the studio and seriously injured his hand and leg. Because his injuries will require a long convalescence, Doc will be unable to play drums on the new album or fulfill any of the bands forthcoming touring commitments, so he will be temporarily replaced by Daray from the Polish black metal band Vesania. The new album will now be released around September.

Melbourne doom band The Eternal (formerly Cryptal Darkness) have finished recording their debut album entitled 'The Sombre Light of Isolation' which is expected to be released around May through Firebox Records. Until then, samples from the album can be heard at www.the-eternal.com/audio.

Former Slayer/Systematic drummer Paul Bostaph has now officially joined Testament. It is understood that the band's most recent drummer Jon Allen recently left the group due to the ill health of his 11-year-old daughter. Testament are currently working on new material for the follow-up to 1999's 'The Gathering' with plans for a late 2004 release.

A new Abaddon Incarnate track entitled Carrion Caresses has been posted online at www.abaddonincarnate.com/mp3/carrion_caresses.mp3. The track comes off the Irish grindcore act's third album 'Dark Crusade' due out in March through Xtreem Music. Other song titles set to appear on the CD include Centrefold Redemption, Embrace the Vicious and Entrusted with Disgust.
