Bringing together ex-members of the Killchoir Project, Day of Contempt and I Killed the Prom Queen is The Hot Lies, who will perform their first show on Fri 27 Feb with Thinktank at the Crown and Anchor. An Adelaide support with the Bronx (USA) will follow on Fri 2 April at Enigma, as will a full Australian tour with Pilot to Gunner (USA) later that month. The Adelaide show will be on Sat 24 April at Enigma.

Also on Fri 27 Feb, local boys Omnium Gatherum will introduce fans to new bass player Matt and new second guitarist Dave at an Enigma Bar show which will also feature Abrasion, Steel Affliction and Silovanje.

The first 50,000 copies of Deicide’s Earache debut ‘Scars Of The Crucifix’ will come with a bonus DVD containing an exclusive Deicide documentary shot by acclaimed UK director Pete Bridgewater (Morbid Angel, The Haunted). Entitled ‘Behind The Scars: Under the Skin Of Deicide’, the 35-minute doco chronicles a few days in the life of the band - in the recording studio, during the making of the album, at home, at a firing range, on stage and out on the town. Check out a preview online at www.deicide.com.

The Berzerker are also set to release a DVD in late March, featuring footage spanning the band’s 6-year career with Earache. The extensive four hours of footage contain live shows on the ‘Dissimulate’ World Tour, the band rehearsing, and some very early shows - you’ll see almost every song The Berzerker have ever written played live! There are also two full length documentaries about the making of both the self-titled album and ‘Dissimulate’ and in depth interviews with past and present band members.

Anthrax tour dates have now been officially released. As previously reported, it will be a joint April tour with Killswitch Engage and Soilwork. The Adelaide show will be on Sat 24 April, at Heaven.

Norway’s Einherjer have officially called it a day. According to the band’s statement on their website: "After 11 years, 4 albums and 2 mini-albums, we’ve decided to split up Einherjer. We feel that we’ve made the album we wanted with ‘Blot’ and therefore a journey of 11 years has come to an end. We would like to thank everybody who has supported us through the years. For us, it is time to move on. We are definitively not retiring as musicians, so you haven’t heard the last from us yet."

Slipknot’s forthcoming album has been described as a "love it or hate it" kind of album by frontman Corey Taylor. The follow up to 2001’s ‘Iowa’ is due out mid-year and has been described as a combination of metal and rock, drawing upon influences as wide as Slayer, Amen, Pink Floyd and King Crimson. "We’ve never been a middle-of-the-road band, and we’re either going down in history or going down in flames with this," asserts Taylor.

‘Bowel Mouth Burger Grill’ is open for business. The debut Bowel Mouth album is now available for purchase on their website (www.bowelmouth.com) for the tasty price of $15.

From the publishers of ‘Lords of Chaos: The Bloody Rise of the Satanic Metal Underground’ comes a new book entitled ‘Choosing Death: The Improbable History of Death Metal and Grindcore’. Written by long time extreme metal journalist Albert Mudrian, with an introduction by respected DJ John Peel, the book is aimed at both longtime followers and newer fans. "The enduring impact of death metal can be seen in much of today’s heavier music," said Mudrian. "From metallic hardcore to even commercial nu metal, countless bands owe a sizable debt to the work of Napalm Death, Morbid Angel, and Carcass. It’s time those groundbreaking influences were properly acknowledged. More information about the book is available at www.choosingdeath.com
