BDO Art Comp 2004 Winners!
Once again the competition for the annual dB Magazine Big Day
Out Art Comp was furious, with around 50 entries in a range
of media: amplifier puppet shows! Guitar pinball! Weird pieces
of art that seemed to have no particular Big Day Out theme at
all!
We had it all, and much, much more, and after spending ages
stroking our chins and insisting that we may not know much about
art but we knows what we likes we narrowed it down to the the
elaborate body art series of Romi Graham, the laquered banana
sculpture (based on the cover of the Dandy Warhols’ ‘Welcome
To The Monkey House,’ fact fans) by Bonnie Kelly, and the final
winner: Robin Tatlow-Lord and her enormous piece celebrating
some of the local talent on display at this year’s Big Day Out,
which is on the cover of the very magazine you’re reading right
now! Kudos to all who entered, and thanks to Fantin Comes Alive!
and the Big Day Out for supplying us with the tickets and CDs
for the winners. Let’s do it all again next year!
