Metal News.
Blacktalon Media, a Queensland-based underground metal label,
would like to announce their recent signing of new Australian
black metal band, Arkheth, and the impending release of this
group’s debut album, ‘Hymns of the Howling Wind’. ‘Hymns...’
was officially launched at last year’s pre-Metal For The Brain
show in Canberra, and should be available in stores early next
month. For those who would like a copy sooner, the CD can be
ordered (for $20 post paid) from Blacktalon Media care of Box
729, Albion Queensland 4010. For more information on the band,
check out their official website at www.arkheth.cjb.net. For
more information on the Blacktalon label, go to their website
at www.blacktalon.cjb.net.
On the subject of things relating to metal and Queensland, one of that state’s most (in)famous metal acts at present, Astriaal (who played here as part of Metalsurge IV last October), was honoured to have their latest album, ‘Renascent Misanthropy’, voted the best Australian Metal Album of the Year last month by listeners of Triple J’s ‘Full Metal Racket’ program (apparently, they tied for the #1 spot with Daysend). That album is soon to be released in Europe by Norwegian label Aftermath Music who have apparently long had an interest in the band. Here’s hoping the album does well over there.
On one final bit of Astriaal-related news, Blacktalon Media wish to announce that they have received a limited number of copies of the group’s obscure ‘The Throne to Perish’ 7” EP, released by US label Dark Horizon Records. Copies of this recording are $15 apiece post paid and apparently only a few remain, so, if you’re interested, best get in touch with the label ASAP. For more info on Astriaal, check out their website at www.astriaal.com.
