As the year comes to a close, it's time celebrate another year past. And what a year it's been! One of the best for dance music in a long while, with some of the biggest acts finally playing our fair city, both from around Australia and from abroad, and also a strong local scene that saw almost 2000 people rock up for a local release, and 10,000 hit Enchanted Forest. If that's not a reason to celebrate, then what is? And it's going to continue into the New Year as more and more great acts touch down over summer!
As one half of the infamous Stimulant DJ's, DJ Brisk has produced some of the best floor orientated dance music in the last decade, and is set to rock the dance floor of Heaven on Thur 18 Dec.
After having been signed to Adam Freeland's Marine Parade label and recently nabbing two DMA Awards for Best Producer and Best Single, Infusion return from a successful US tour to show Adelaide exactly why they're one of Australia's best breakbeat exports! Appearing one night only at Black Cat White Cat on Fri 19 Dec, this will be only their second show in Adelaide since 2002, so don't miss them and have to wait another two years!
Last time they were here they blew the roof off Traffic: The Scratch Perverts return to Adelaide, this time bringing the Dirty Duo of DJ Selekt and J-Red, Australia's DMC champions along with them. This great night of hiphop and breaks is on Fri 19 Dec at Traffic.
Flying high on the response to their new album 'Audible Inventions,' The Bird bring their engaging beats and rhythms back to the intimate live. Don't miss The Bird up close and personal at Rhino Room on Fri 19 Dec and The Crown & Sceptre on Sat 20 Dec.
Bass Station pumps up the bass on Sat 20 Dec with DJ Jewelz returning to bang out the Hard Trance, and in the Remus Room the special feature of DnB flavour with Pendulum, the Turbine Crew, MC Pase, and more!
Those despairing about missing Pete Rock because of Enchanted can thank the Lord for snow! His trip was set back because of bad snow, so now he's appearing a week later at the Gov on Sat 20 Dec. Rejoice in hiphop splendor!
This Christmas night (Thur 25 Dec) at Savvy, international vinyl junky Kaskade from OM and Naked Music will be hovering under the mistletoe, dishing out the kisses in the form of great house music. Kaskade is one of the leading lights of USA house music, having overtaken Miguel Migs as the most influential house music producer in America in 2003.
Heaven is making it a very merry Christmas Night by bringing over yet another heavy weight in the form of DJ Tiesto, the number one DJ in the world. Tiesto has become the leading ambassador of modern Trance music, with his unique blend of Progressive Trance fused with up-beat House.
Traffic celebrates its first birthday on Sat 27 Dec! After a very successful year of the best in all forms of dance music, they will be delivering the double whammy of a pressie in the form of DJ Krafty Kuts and DJ/MC Sharkey!

As is traditional in these types of things, I'd like to thank everyone for their support over the last year. To all those that sent me items for this column, you have my deepest thanks. To all the club owners and promoters, thank you for your support, and thank you for continuing to bring over the greatest talent on earth, as well as encouraging our own talent by putting on nights of pure local DJs and producers! And a very special thanks goes out to all those who GO OUT, who get out there and support the dance music scene, either through DJing, Producing, and most importantly of anyone, those who go out to listen and dance, because without you, we would be nothing!
