There seems to be a lull in dance music entertainment over the next few weeks, well, in terms of touring internationals. However, in a way that's good, because now you can go out and check out the locals, who will really shine in the absence of those big names. By going out to local events, you get the same quality music on the same quality sound systems, without blowing your budget!

It also means you can have cash for things like the Early Bird Summer Enchanted 2003 tickets, which are on sale now! Tickets are only $40, but be quick, as there are only 500 tickets at this price. Tickets usually end up being priced around $70 or $80, so at this price you're guaranteed to save money for extra goodies, like the Enchanted DVD!

A new night sponsored by UniSA's Student Association is opening at the Governor Hindmarsh's front bar on Thur 7 Aug. Starting at 8pm, and inventively called the "UniSA Front Bar Shindig" there will be loads of drink specials and a free bbq for all who can make it in time. The following week (Thur 14 Aug) sees totally live sets from drum-n-beats masterminds Amoeba and Patchwerk, plus the super stylings of DJ Batch. Keep your eyes out for a guest spot by Funky J sometime soon!

In a decade devoted to dance, DJ Thief has not only conquered the turntables but also created System 6 - Australia's only underground club event that has invaded every major city. See DJ Thief play at Chemistry on Thur 7 Aug. And don't forget, if you're into d'n'b, Bailey plays Traffic also on Thur 7 Aug, proudly brought to you by inbound.

If you missed Adam Freeland, then kick yourself. HARD! Now for penance, head down to Traffic on Fri 8 Aug for Traffic Breaks: Home Brewed. Adelaide's breakbeat scene is growing from strength to strength, and will continue to grow, especially if you help support local talent! Playing the finest breaks we have John Doe, whose set at Adam Freeland was second only to the great man himself, and DJ Brendon; yes, THE Brendon who's been on the scene for years...if you think he's good playing commercial stuff, watch him tear up the breaks! Plus dB's own fine contributor Lachlan Pender, the man in the hat Steven King, Mr Nice Guy Jayar, and wise man with attitude, Riddla.

On the reggae tip, Dubwise, which I constantly hear good things about, bring positive energy and a haze of purple and green to the Crown and Sceptre on Sat 9 Aug. Bob ya heads to the live roots, reggae and dancehall styles of Jessie Proverbs and Band on stage, alongside deejays Rah, Duncan, Morph and Milton. Jah be wit cha, mon.

One international act to hit us this week is Foreign Legion. This hiphop crew are set to invade Minke on Sat 9 Aug. If the Ugly Duckling show was anything to go by, this will be a sell out show, so get those tickets today otherwise you WILL miss out. The amount of tears I saw whilst waiting outside for a friend as people were turned away reminded me of how important getting in early really is.

On Fri 15 Aug Traffic goes Back To The Jungle. MPK, Noddy and Fiction have been playing the fast and furious breakbeat know as drum and bass for years, and between them they have the greatest collection of dnb records in the country. For a massive 5 hours, these guys will be going back to back in what should be an awesome night of old school jungle sound with plenty of rewinds. MCs G-Swift and Xpress will complement the boys on the mic, tearing it up old school style!

Sat 23 Aug sees the New Pollutants release their new 12 inch 'Urban Professional Nightmares' at Minke Bar, alongside MKB and Red Monika. Read our interview with them, and have a look at See Prize Frenzy™ for giveaways. for your chance to win one of the 300 hand numbered limited edition records.

Well, that's about all I've got for this week. I have heard some interesting tour news...Prince Paul is expected to touch down in October. Will the Handsome Boy make his way to Adelaide? The Neptunes' producer Chad Hugo is also set for a very quick tour down under at the end of this month, but looks like it's a Sydney show only. Also not coming to Adelaide is RZA, the unifying force behind raps' mega-huge Wu-Tang Clan. But don't fret, his album 'The World According To RZA' is out shortly, so you can get your fix! Also slated for release on that date is the new album from People Under The Stairs, called 'The Next Step'.

Plus, don't forget all the acts that are slated to tour that I mentioned last time! If you can't remember, then look it up - you do remember to keep your copies of dB, don't you?
