Damaged will play Adelaide for the first time in two years as part of their national tour with Sydney's Daysend and Queensland's Sakkuth. Catch them on Fri 18 July at Le Rox with Omnium Gatherum.

In other tour news, Swedish masters of melodic death/thrash Soilwork have announced their first Australian tour in September this year. Presented by Scorpion Entertainment and Kerrang Magazine, the tour will be in support of their latest album 'Figure Number Five', a release which is continuing to raise their already significant profile worldwide. Soilwork will be accompanied by Melbourne's Frankenbok on the four-date tour. Supports for the Adelaide show, to be held at the UniBar on Sun 14 Sept, have yet to be officially announced, but tickets are already on sale from VenueTix and CIB Ticketing.

Strike Anywhere
's anthemic and inspiring debut album 'Change is a Sound' caused a minor sensation in the US hardcore/punk scene, and now the band will be bringing their spirited and uplifting show to our shores for the first time, with a 10-date national tour that takes in the Enigma Bar on Fri 1 Aug. Strike Anywhere's melodic hardcore with a punk rock soul will be sure to leave you hoarse, happy and recharged!

Chatterbox Records is proud to announce that the new Alchemist album 'Austral Alien' has been added to Triple J's rotation. Not only is this a great accomplishment for Canberra band who have released some of the greatest Australian metal music over the past ten years, it also shows that radio can come around and start to support the Australian metal underground.

It seems the guys from the Norwegian black metal scene are once again up to their old tricks. Recently, Svartharid guitarist Illvastar broke into a morgue in Skein, decapitated a corpse with a sami-knife (a 20-40cm knife with a long, sharp blade) and arranged the other bodies in various 'positions'. When arrested, Illvastar claimed that he'd done it for a bet. His prize? A lump of hash.

Machine Head are currently recording their fifth studio album, entitled 'Through the Ashes of Empires'. The follow-up to 2001's 'Supercharger' will mark the recording debut with the band of guitarist Phil Demmel, who joined the band in early April. In other news, The Cure's Robert Smith has invited Machine Head to contribute to an upcoming Cure tribute CD.

Melbourne black metallers Atomizer are nearing completion of their third studio album, 'The Only Weapon of Choice'. Australian release dates will be announced when they come to hand. The band have also released 2 EPs in the past two months: 'Tyrus: The Doom War of the Armoured Angel' (limited to 500 copies) and an Atomizer/Root split 7" (limited to 666 copies). Ordering information is available on the band's website www.atomizer.net.

Sweden's Dissection has been on hold indefinitely since mastermind Jon Nödveidt received a ten year sentenced for murder in 1998. However, with Nödveidt's release scheduled for 2004, Dissection look set to resume their career. The current line-up, consisting of Nödveidt and former Emperor drummer Båcrd 'Faust' Eithun, are now looking to complete the group with a guitarist and bass player who must be "fully able to represent the anti-cosmic/Satanic concept of the band", according to the website. Nödveidt has reportedly completed work on a pre-production recording of 11 new songs, and is expecting to enter Abyss Studios sometime next year to record the band's third full-length album, tentatively due for release in late 2004.

It has come to hand that the members of Incantation and their wives were involved in a car accident on the day of the Sydney show on their Blasphemy Downunder tour. There were some broken bones but luckily, no one sustained more serious injuries.

Sydney death/thrash band Abortus is pleased to announce that they have finally found a new drummer. Dave Upston from the young Sydney melodic metal band Infernis was asked to fill the position in the band so that Abortus could finalise all negotiations for the Sept/Oct tour with Germany's Mystic Circle. Full information about the tour has yet to be announced, but it is understood to include around six dates, including one in Adelaide. Check out www.abortus.cjb.net for further updates.
