Hold on
to your helmets as it looks as if the Valve tour will make its way to
Adelaide after all - on Sun 17 Nov Rush proudly presents the masters
of darkness Dillinja & Lemon D (UK) touching down for a set
of pure dancefloor bizness. Between them they have redefined drum
& bass as we know it, and without a shadow of a doubt are the most
important producers in the scene. Local support comes from the likes
of Noddy, MPK, John Doe, Fiction, Mark
7, Patch, Rayda, D-Jon, Pab, G
Swift and Mennan plus special guest Mosus from New
Zealand. The Valve tour will be on stage early for those who need to
work on Monday. Those thoughtful boys at Rush - they think of
everything! Look out for an interview with Dillinja and Lemon D next
issue.

Well at
least one Adelaide DJ is on a roll: DJ Bundi has just played in
Perth with H Foundation, Richie Hawtin and Stacey
Pullen and heads to Melbourne cup eve to play with Swag's Chris
Duckenfield. This comes hot on the heels of being featured on
Triple J’s Mixup recorded live at Minke’s Skylab.
Carl
Cox,
considered by many to be the worlds best DJ, returns in the only true
setting in which his power on the decks can be really appreciated -
live! Back with Moonshine, home to his best selling albums in North
America, Carl Cox is brought to you live from the Moby’s Area 2
Festival. Recorded in Detroit, this latest mixed live CD captures the
3 deck crowd pleasing energy as only Carl Cox & Moonshine can.
Perhaps the title - ‘Carl Cox - Mixed Live 2nd Session (at Area 2 in
Detroit)’ - isn’t particularly catchy but the results are as
smooth as silk. It is being released on Tues 12 Nov through EQ &
Stomp.
B-Boy

The UK’s
most original live techno outfit, Eat Static, will smash sound
barriers when they touch down this December for their first Australian
tour, coinciding with the launch of the third annual Global Eyes 2003
electronic music publication that celebrates the art of electronic
music. Eat Static will indulge Australian audiences with their
renowned live sets; a twisted mix of sci-fi soundscapes, tweaking acid
lines, bent breaks and psychedelic riffs
that have entranced underground dance lovers since 1990. Playing live
at the Outback Eclipse Festival in South Australia (December 2-6) this
will be a show and a half
Return
of the Kid Part II - yes, Kid Kenobi, Australian DJ of the year
in 2001, is back and he’s still got a silly name. But he’s just
released a second 'Clubbers Guide to Breaks' on Ministry Of Sound so
we’ll forgive him. With a brilliant and slightly less commercial
track listing than the previous '…Guide', and the way that breaks is
taking off all around Australia, this could be the soundtrack to your
summer.
It is
still over a month away but I am getting very excited: Sasha,
one of the most famous and revered DJs on the planet, tours Australia
for the first time in two long years for the launch of his new album,
‘Airdrawndagger’. He kicks off the tour in our lovely city on
Thurs 28 Nov and this will be an event not to be missed!
On Sat
26 Oct the Sure Beats crew welcome Social Change to the
stage. The talented collective offer conscious hip hop rhymes backed
by fat funk rhythms and rockin’ breaks. Check 'em out alongside the
sure shootin’ DJ talents of Stephen King, Luc@s and Smiley.
Expect a top night of upbeat hip hop and funky nu skool styles at the
Crown & Sceptre.
Why go
to Melbourne, when Minke brings Melbourne to you? Skylab is finishing
off their SA/Victorian exchange program by transplanting Melbourne's Ant
J Steep on Sat 26 Oct (resident DJ at Honkytonks’ and co-winner
of the 2002 Australian Red Bull DJ Academy Award). Meanwhile Skylab
residents, Bundi and Sanjii will be showing our
interstate dancefloor brothers and sisters at Honkytonks how it’s
done - Adelaide style! Then in November Japan’s Kazu Kimura
is special guest at Skylab’s dedicated techno night, Windup, on Fri
29 Nov. He’s just back from Europe and you can hear all about it
before the gig when dB Magazine interviews him.
