First
up, a quick reminder that Metalsurge II will be held at the Music
House in the city on Sat 12 Oct. Bands billed for this all-ages event
are local acts Slaughter Thou, Inahkus, Dephiler,
and StigMartyr, as well as NSW visitors Abortus and Dark
Order, and Victorian visitors Steel Affliction and The
Berzerker.
Truth
Corroded have
officially parted ways with their drummer, Adam Milburn. At
this time, there is no replacement. More news on this to come in the
future. Also, the band would once again like to quash all rumours that
they are breaking up; this is not going to happen.
Kerrang!
Radio is on the air on Triple M every Friday night from 10 o' clock to
midnight.
Pungent
Stench
are planning to come out to Australia next January. No further details
at this point.
Local
metallers Virgin Black could very soon be finding themselves
with many more fans after MTV requested four songs of theirs for use
on an upcoming pair of shows entitled "Fraternity Life" and
"Sorority Life" respectively: shows that will be aired via
cable TV to what will hopefully be an audience of millions. One of the
people behind the above programs claimed that Virgin Black's material
"would be perfect for the intense and desperate moments of the
show[s]."
Swedish
band Opeth have finalized the track listing and cover artwork
for their forthcoming CD 'Deliverance'. This album apparently contains
the "heavier" material recorded as part of a two-album
project; the second album, 'Damnation' features the more
"mellow" songs recorded during the same sessions. No
definite date has yet been confirmed for the Australian release of
'Deliverance' although the follow-up album has been tentatively slated
for release in March next year. There are rumours of a tour by the
band here next year to promote these releases.
Fans of
metal, punk and rock n' roll may be interested to learn of a new US
band called Murderdolls. Led by Joey Jordison (Slipknot),
the group is currently touring in Europe with Papa Roach, and
has apparently enjoyed great success with its debut release 'Beyond
the Valley of the Murderdolls'. Something of a musical hybrid,
Murderdolls incorporate elements of metal, glam, punk and rock n' roll
in their material, and have been described by one source as likely to
appeal to fans of "old horror films, The Misfits, or
Eighties Sunset hair metal". The band has already undergone a
minor line-up change with member Tripp Eisen (Static-X)
leaving and being replaced by Acey Slade (ex-DOPE).
