Nellyville

UMG

From the mean streets of St Louis, Missouri to the shores of Australia, 'Nellyville', the long awaited second album for Cornell Haynes Junior (more popularly known as Nelly) has finally landed. Signed to Universal Music from the hip hop group St Lunatics, Nelly's first single and debut album 'Country Grammar' received double platinum status in Australia. In addition, five of his singles made it into the Top 20 and his previous single Girlfriend, a collaboration with boy group N*Sync recently hit the number one position.

'Nellyville' also contains the simple but catchy Hot In Herre, which has received nationwide exposure and has now become a club anthem. Another notable track is Dilemma, a duet with Destiny's Childs' Kelly Rowland, one of the only real ballad style tracks.

'Nellyville' overall is typically rap and hip hop but tinged with more R&B than I anticipated. Credit must be given for his melodious lyrical style, but it's a shame his album is on the repetitive side and gets quite monotonous after a while. If you love your R'n'B, 'Nellyville' might not quite meet expectations - however, if you are more into rap and hip-hop and are keen on previous St Lunatics works, this might be just what you're looking for.
